Feature – Data Exports

If it involves Data - we can help you

Exporting Data from InSights Into Data

InSights Into Data allows you to export any data that it holds (If you have authority to do it).  It does this using a Wizard that will take you through the various options for the File Export.  What format to export it to, what columns to include, how to format them, whether to put in headers and footers, etc.
You can export to Microsoft Access, Excel, CSV, XML, RTF, PDF, Column Delimited Text, HTML, DBF, DIF, SYLK, and even as SQL Insert statements.
You have full control over your export – so that you can do what you want with YOUR data!

Export Wizard screens

This screen capture shows how you can pick what format to export to – and what file you name you will use.
This screen allows you to choose what columns, from what Table to include in the export.  It also allows you to note how many records to skip in the export, and how many records in total you want to export.
After this screen – you are presented with wizard pages that allow you to choose some options for the various types of exports, whether to include headers and footers,
Until at last you end up at the final page of the Wizard – where you can start the export!  As a note – if you turn off the Updates – the export will run many times faster!

Other Exports

InSights Into Data provides three other export functions:
  1. Blob Export – this feature allows you to export Blob (Binary files) from the in-memory data tables to files on disk.
  2. Export to Viewer – this feature exports the data and the dashboard definition to an encrypted file that can be shared with other users who have our Viewer application and they will be able to view and interact with the dashboard.
  3. Export to Snapshot – This feature takes the in-memory data table and compresses and encrypts the data into a file on disk.  This file can be shared with other InSights users – or reloaded by you at a later time.  The nice thing about this feature is that it means you can be reloaded quickly without having to run the SQL query or the file import again.
