Feature – File Imports

If it involves Data - we can help you

File import wizard

You can import files into InSights Into Data in two ways.  The first is as a one-off import.  The second is as part of creating an import script.  Both use a Wizard to setup the import of the file.

The one-off imports take you through the Wizard, where you choose what type of file, any field name or type changes you want to make, and finally what to call the in memory table that will be created.

The second way to import a file is to run an import script that has been created by running the File Import Wizard and storing the resulting script in the currently active Query.

File import wizard - The Screens

On this page of the Wizard, you choose what file type you want to import – and then choose the file – and then any additional parameters.  In the case of the Excel file import – you can choose what Worksheet to import and the cell range on it.

You then click the next button.

The next page of the wizard allows you to change the column names and their type if you so wish.  However, keep in mind that the column data must be such that it can support this new field type.

You then click the next button.

The final screen of the Wizard allows you to enter a Table Name for the new in-memory table that will be created by the import of the file.

You then click the next button.
