InSights refers to Queries as not just the SQL – but everything that makes up the meta data associated with the job.
Each Query contains at least one Query Script – which can be a SQL statement or an Insert script. It also contains definitions for grid layouts, report definitions, export definitions, and dashboards
The Query shown in the image below shows one with an SQL script. It also has notes and a dashboard definition (see the checkboxes in the grid for that query line).
As noted above, each query can have various meta data associated with it – such as dashboard definitions, reports, etc. As such – you can save your Queries to a file – which include all the metadata – but NO actual data from the run of your queries.
This means you can save everything about a query to file, and then send that file to someone else via say email. This allows you to share your query and work with others. You can email (or otherwise send) the file to someone else who, if they are using the same data source, can run the query and view the results – including dashboards, reports, grid layouts!
