InSights allows users to get data into the programs In Memory tables using two main ways. The first if using SQL queries to pull data in from external databases. The second is via File Imports, which include Excel and CSV files.
Once you have data in the application – all the tools in InSights Into Data work on them exactly the same.
Database: Native Access and ODBC
InSights can import data natively from a number of different database technologies: MySQL, MariaDB, MSSQL, Oracle, SQLite, Firebird, and Postgresql. We will be adding more in the near future.
As well as native access, you can access many different data sources using ODBC, which InSights full supports
File Imports
As well as bringing in data via Database SQL Queries, InSights also supports importing CSV and Excel files. We will also be enhancing this feature to support Column Delimited text files, Jason, and XML files. In a future release we will support import scripting so that you can import any file format you want!
Moving forward, the goal is to add more and more datasources to the importable list for InSights. We are even looking at being able to bring data in from a number of different cloud services!!
